COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Business Continuity Statement

March 13, 2020

TROY, Mich., March 13, 2020 – At Plex, the health and safety of our customers, employees and partners and the reliable delivery of our service are our primary concerns. Given the global precautions for the COVID-19 Coronavirus and recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), Plex is taking additional steps to ensure the safety and wellness of everyone in the Plex community, including reviewing business continuity plans, monitoring travel restrictions, and prudently evaluating the need for group gatherings and social distancing.

We have set up a response team that is working to determine the appropriate measures that should be taken during this situation. This team helps guide our actions, including measures to reduce the spread of the illness and maintaining business continuity across our business: IT, procurement, customer support and cloud services.

One of the great advantages of being a SaaS company is that our business is designed to ensure business continuity in situations such as this. All of our production datacenters are operated in a “lights out” fashion, which allows us to manage everything remotely. Regardless of the level of travel restrictions or the social impact COVID-19 may have, Plex is fully prepared and equipped to support all of our solutions. In fact, we exercise and test our business continuity plan for our datacenters every month as an added layer of security and reliability.

We realize this situation remains very dynamic. We will continue to closely monitor developments with respect to COVID-19 and provide updates on plex.com on a regular basis. We are confident in our preparation and contingency planning for situations like this and remain committed to providing the superior service and support that our customers expect from Plex.

Questions and Answers:

1. Has Plex implemented any travel restrictions for its employees?

Our travel guidance is continually evolving to stay consistent with guidelines from the WHO and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At this time our employees are available to travel to customer sites in non-restricted locations to support customers as needed.

2. Does Plex have a business continuity plan in place?

Keeping your business running is at the heart of what we do. That’s why we designed our system from the very beginning to ensure business continuity during situations just like this. As stated above, our production datacenters operate in a way that allows us to support all of our solutions without the need for anyone to physically be onsite. Regardless of any travel bans or social impact that COVID-19 may have, our service levels should not be affected.

In addition, our datacenters are unique in that they run active disaster recovery processes on a routine basis. Our datacenters were built to be active passive, meaning we run our application in one center one month and the other center the following month. This practice ensures our infrastructure is continuously in use, and our failover processes are tested monthly.
